Summer Course Tropical Farming UGM 2020

June 14, 2020 – June 15, 2020

Faculty of Agriculture UGM is holding an international summer course on “Smart Tropical Farming: The Nexus between Traditional Ecological Knowledge and Modern Practices” in cooperation with Faculty of Forestry, and is inviting scholars from Asian, European, North American, and Australian universities. The topic is chosen based on the diversity of farming system around Yogyakarta Special Region, from Merapi volcano in the north to sandy-coastal areas in the south. In this regard, traditional ecological knowledge practiced by farmers for generations goes hand in hand with modern agricultural practices disseminated by the government and universities. The summer course is set in a multidisciplinary setting, embracing the agrotechnology, agricultural socioeconomics, and social sciences aspects, by using a case-based learning approach.
