Abstract

Baccaurea dulcis that known as menteng besar is originally from West Java and Sumatera, whereas B. reticulata which known as tampoi is originally from Kalimantan and Sumatera. Both species have economic potential as fruit plant and the fruits have been traded at local market. There are very limited study on these species until now. The aims of these studies were to find out the seedling phenology of menteng besar and the fruiting phenology of tampoi. The observation of seed germination process and seedling growth of B. dulcis was conducted at the nursery of Bogor Botanic Gardens. On the other hand, the fruiting phenology analysis of B. reticulata plant was conducted namely length period of flowering and fruiting phase until fruit ripen as well as fruit size at early stage of fruiting process. Type of seed germination of B. dulcis was epigeal. The seedling growth until 6 weeks reached 6 cm and plumule had fully open after 6 weeks. On the other hand, as long as 7 months were needed for B. reticulata for process from flower bud until the fruit became ripe.
